Sandra saw a cotton Santa that recently sold and requested that I make one similiar to it. This Father Christmas was made in the style of paper ornaments home-crafted by Victorian families over a century ago. This beautiful condition antique scrap Santa bust originally most likely had matching boots at one time, so I fashioned my own out of brown antique silk fabric and added chenille fur and Dresden paper stars, which gives him extra charm. For his body, I selected my best antique felted cotton batting (salvaged from an 1860s quilt), and embellished him with antique silk ribbon, bordered with red antique silk picot ribbon trim, vintage chenille in soft aged red, vintage tinsel rope and added an antique wired tinsel star for a very authentic finish!
