Dainty Ultra-Deluxe Hot Air Balloon with Beautiful Victorian Lady

An amazing amount of detail for an ornament of this size! This balloon was very carefully crafted down to the finest embellishments, from the trims on the miniature early glass basket and delicate detailing added to the antique scrap maiden, to the antique figural molded balloon accented with various antique stars and antique fabric trims. 17 different kinds of trims were employed, to include decorative double-twisted wire (top of balloon) and antique twisted wire (draping sides of balloon). Handmade and signed by Gail Giaimo.

This one-of-a-kind ornament is made almost exclusively with antique and early vintage materials, including old glass ornament(s) with beautiful patina; detailed embossed scrap(s) (most of them predate the 1900s and are meticulously backed with early papers and/or old tinsel); a variety of old fabric to include chenille, lace, ribbon and metallic trims; old decorative tinsel (most of which is from old tree garlands); and old papers of all kinds, including lovely old-stock Dresden paper trims, crepe paper, old foil, gift wrap, and other embellishments.
