Dennis requested a set of commemorative ornaments of famous presidents to bring stars and stripes to his tree this year! I chose a star shape (carefully wrapped with vintage chenille for a traditional look) for this dramatic antique scrap rendering of General/President Grant. A treatment as bold as the man himself called for antique patriotic crepe paper ruffle and richly embossed vintage Dresden paper border, along with gold and silver stars set off with vintage and antique old-stock Lametta tinsel and vintage Japan-made silk flags.

The back side of the ornament continues to tell a story with an antique scrap vignette of General Grant posing with his trusty steed.
