512” tall
This mesh stocking candy container is made much in the same way as the handmade stocking ornaments that were created in Victorian times. Stiff mesh or buckram was cut into stocking shapes that were stitched together to create an actual “pocket”. The shapes of these were often long and thin to resemble the family’s socks (undergarments) that were hung on the mantle; not like the stylized fat stockings that we use today. Often scrap angels and Santas were sewn directly onto the stockings and Dresden stars were glued on to further decorate them. On Christmas Eve, parents would tuck sweet treats and little paper toys inside the stockings for their children to discover in the morning.
