Mrs. Lincoln came from a very large illustration featuring all the presidents’ wives that was preserved in a Victorian scrapbook. She is so sweet with her garland of roses decorating her brown hair and I decided on this fabulous unsilvered 120+ year old Victorian balloon with its original netting and wired glass beads. I selected this very old cotton bell as found, covered in light blue venetian dew as a basket for Mrs. Lincoln to ride in, and attached it to the balloon with lovely faded old vintage patriotic curling ribbon (I had only one piece, and it was just enough!). For the final touch I created a small wreath out of vintage flowers and tinsel rope to add around the bell.
