A superb quality large 1880's scrap bust of a "snow girl" holding a bouquet of roses just melts your heart when you look into her eyes. It took a while to just find the right balance of materials... there are 7 different elements (to include 25 antique scrap roses) layered across the hem of her cotton batting skirt (which came from a very early vintage tree skirt piece)! These kinds of oversized flatwork paper ornaments were very popular in Victorian times (and our customer Susan, is particularly fond of them!). They were usually not commercially made, but crafted by middle-class Victorian families and hung on very large fir trees that had large spaces between wide arching branches. Handmade and signed by Gail Giaimo.
