***This ornament is made exclusively with all original 120+ year old materials and is part of very unique and rare listing Our goal was to re-create the whimsical magic of original 1880’s scrap, tinsel, glass, and paper ornaments that we have always fallen in love with but are so hard to find, and make them available to our collectors! (The condition and patina will vary, which this is part of their vintage one-of-a-kind charm and character.)***

    SPECIAL FEATURES
We’ve always admired the handmade look and feel of paper Christmas ornaments, especially candy containers. Victorian families decorated the tree on Christmas eve with many homemade ornaments, including paper candy cones and cornucopias made out of Christmas gift wrap paper, scraps from Germany and Dennison crepe paper decorated with hand-cut strips of metallic paper, much like this one. They would punch holes in the sides and attach giftwrap ribbon for the handle.  Parents would delight their children by waiting until they were sound asleep before tucking treats inside for them to discover in the morning!  Now that sounds like a really fun Christmas tradition! I used my treasured old shellacked red paper bordered by real copper-coated tarnished paper, a gorgeous scrap Santa from a postcard bordered in fancy gilded paper frame, and other rare Dresden papers.

Lovingly handcrafted and signed by Gail Giaimo.

Our Signature Style - To Make an Ornament for You that Lasts for Generations! You will know you have a ultra-custom Dresden Star Work of Art because we sign and date each and every ornament, as well as add our gold hang tag with your specific ornament’s unique one-of-a-kind inventory number on it. You will receive your ornament gently packed between layers of tissue paper in a beautiful embossed gold box with care and handling instructions. With over 15 years of experience, we are expert at wire-wrapping each ornament to help protect it against accidental breakage (just like those smart Victorians). We take extra time and pains to meticulously back every scrap to cardstock and old-stock papers to protect these beautiful and fragile illustrations so they will last for generations to come.
